I bought these pair of beauties a few weeks back. I was initially very disappointed as the ear phones sounded harsh and lacked bass. And then after reading the other reviews I realized that to get the real sound of them you need to have a very good seal when you wear this ear phone. Unfortunately the stock silicone tips which shipped with the ear phones had a poor fit.

Bought this because my dj-specific needles were producing nasty inner groove distortion (IGD) on many of my records regardless of how many times I would align and re-align them. I set this cartridge and needle up on a Technics headshell, aligned it once with a protractor, dropped in on the inner track of a particularly-nasty sounding record, and was amazed by how clearly it played back.

I'm going to level with you... I don't know anything about music... or music theory. What I do know is I love the heck out of these headphones. These are pretty. They honestly look like a very expensive musical instrument. These things look like they should belong in a steampunk alternate reality.

I previously purchased the Klipsch Image One headphones (which are superior to these in ONLY one area--the iPhone/iPod in-line remote control) but wanted to try these out. I'm glad I did. First impression when you take these out of the box is "Luxe." The ear pads are lambskin and the wood is a beautiful, nice touch. Even the headband is padded with "Protein Leather" whatever that is. High end styling meets audiophile in these phones.
